Introducing the 2021-22 AJKD Editorial Interns

Orhan Efe

Orhan Efe博士目前临床和研究fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) / Brigham Women’s Hospital (BWH). He attended medical school at Hacettepe University in Turkey. Following his graduation, he conducted research on novel treatment approaches for diabetes insipidus. He then completed internal medicine residency at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA. His clinical interests include glomerular diseases, vasculitis, and kidney transplantation. At MGH, he conducts basic and translational research on regulatory T cell stimulation to prolong allograft survival and control autoimmunity. He also leads several clinical studies in kidney transplantation. Along with his clinical work and research, Dr. Efe contributes to the teaching of residents as he is planning to pursue a career on the tripod of clinical practice, research, and medical education. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and spending time with his family. Follow him@OrhanEfe_.

Ana Cecilia Farfan Ruiz

Dr. Ana Cecilia Farfan Ruiz is currently a renal transplant fellow at the Mayo Clinic Florida. She obtained her medical degree at the National University School of Medicine in Bogota, Colombia. Thereafter, she moved to Montreal, Canada, where she certified in Family Medicine and obtained a MSc in Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Montreal. She then pursued a residency program in Internal Medicine at McGill University (Montreal) and finally moved to Ottawa University, Canada, where she graduated in adult nephrology. Dr. Farfan Ruiz also recently obtained a diploma in Clinical Effectiveness at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She has an interest in renal transplant, glomerulonephritis, and renal disease in pregnancy. She will be using database analysis to address relevant clinical situations in kidney pharmacology and epidemiology. Follow her@AnaCeciliaFarf1.

Lachlan McMichael

拉克兰博士McMichael is a transplant nephrology fellow at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He is originally from Adelaide, Australia, where he completed medical school at the University of Adelaide. He has completed his basic physician training at Central Adelaide Local Health Network and nephrology training at the Central and Northern Adelaide Renal & Transplantation Service. He is interested in transplant nephrology with a research focus on patient access to transplantation. He is also pursuing a Master of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology through the University of Sydney, Australia. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking & skiing. Follow him@lachlan_mcm.

Raphael Rosen

Dr. Raphael Rosen is a nephrology fellow at Columbia University. A native Bostonian, he received his undergraduate degree in religion from Columbia University and then taught high school math and biology, which fueled his passion for education. He then returned to Columbia University for medical school and residency. Dr. Rosen’s clinical interests are in transplant nephrology and the applications of point-of-care ultrasonography to nephrology. He is passionate about all aspects of academic nephrology – clinical medicine, education, and research. He is excited to be joining theAJKDfamily to hone his editorial skills. When not passionately debating the finer points of hyponatremia management, he can be found spending time with his wife and toddler son or on his spin bike. Follow him@RaphyRosen.
